A sheep vaccination schedule that runs from your own rules
Most sheep farmers keep the vaccination programme in their head or on a wall calendar. EkBoer turns it into rules, then works out, every day, which animals are due for what.
How the rules work
Each vaccine, treatment or job is a rule. A rule says when it is due, and the app does the arithmetic for every animal. The rule types are explained in plain words in the app and in the video tutorials.
- Every year on a date, for example a yearly booster.
- A follow-up some days after another task, for example a second dose four weeks after the first.
- Repeat every N days, for example a treatment you repeat every 90 days.
- From birth, for lambs: a shot a set number of days after the lamb is born.
- For new animals, once they have settled in.
- Wait for another task, for example a dewormer that waits until the animal has had its vaccine.
Add your own vaccine or treatment
An “add my own vaccine or treatment” wizard asks what kind it is, how often, and which animals it applies to, then builds the rule for you. Nothing needs to be typed as a formula. You can switch a rule off for ewes, rams or lambs separately.
Mark done, and nothing is forgotten
Tap Done on Today, untick any animal that did not get the job, and add a batch number or note. If you did something that is not on the list, “Log something I did” records it. Every entry goes into the history, with an Undo if you tapped by mistake.
An example, not advice
The standard programme that comes with the app is the developer’s own programme for his own Dorper flock. It is a worked example so you can see how rules fit together. It is not advice for your farm. Always check products, doses, timing and withdrawal periods with your vet and the product label.
Questions farmers ask
Does the app tell me which vaccine or dose to use?
No. It never gives dosing advice. It only reminds you according to the rules you set. Check doses and withdrawal periods with your vet and the product label.
Can I change the standard programme?
Yes. You can edit, switch off, delete or replace any rule, or start with no rules at all.
Can lambs have a different schedule from ewes?
Yes. Each rule applies to ewes, rams and lambs separately, and lamb rules can be counted from each lamb’s own birth date.
