What is EkBoer?
EkBoer is a farm app for all your animals. Sheep is working now, cattle is next and more animals will follow. Try it free for 30 days with no card needed, then it is R99 per month with unlimited use of every animal in the app. It tells you every day which vaccines, treatments and farm jobs are due, and for which animals, from rules you control. It also keeps breeding, lambing, scanning, weight and stud records. It works on a phone or computer, even without signal, in English and Afrikaans.
Will there be advertisements?
We may show advertisements in the app and on our website. They will be clearly marked as advertisements, they will not change your reminders or records, and we do not sell your personal information or give advertisers your animals or farm records. See the privacy policy in the app.
How much does it cost?
The first 30 days are free and you do not need a card. After that it is R99 per month, with unlimited use of every animal in the app. No VAT is charged.
What happens after the 30 days?
If you do not subscribe, you will see a screen asking you to subscribe instead of the app. Your animals and records are kept and are there the moment you subscribe, and you can download a copy of your records from that screen. Nothing is deleted.
Do I need a card to start?
No. You can start the 30-day trial with just your email address. We only ask for payment details if you decide to continue.
Does it work offline?
Yes. It installs like an app on a phone or computer and keeps working without signal. Your changes sync to your account when you are online again.
Which phones and computers does it work on?
Any modern phone, tablet or computer with a web browser (Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac). Open the website and install it from the browser menu, or on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Does it give vaccine or dosing advice?
No. It reminds you according to the rules you set. The standard programme is the developer’s own programme for a Dorper flock and is an example, not advice. Check doses, timing and withdrawal periods with your vet and the product label.
Can I add my own vaccines and treatments?
Yes. An “add my own vaccine or treatment” wizard builds the rule for you, and you can edit, switch off or delete any rule.
Can I use it if the ram stays with the ewes all year?
Yes. Choose “Ram stays in all year” in Setup. Tasks timed from a lambing date pause or repeat every 12 months, and results show the last 12 months.
Can I import my animals from Excel?
Yes. Import from .xlsx, .csv or pasted cells. The app matches the columns, shows what will happen, never deletes anything and lets you undo the import.
Is it suitable for stud breeders?
Yes, for keeping records: pedigree, registration numbers, extra IDs, weights, 100-day weaning weights, sire and dam results, inspections, DNA records and a birth list. It does not submit data to a breed society or Logix.
Is my data private?
Your animals and records are saved to your own account and are not visible to other farmers. See the privacy policy in the app for details.
Is there an Afrikaans version?
Yes. Switch language on the first screen or in Setup. The guide and the app are in Afrikaans too. The video tutorials are in English.
