A sheep farming app that tells you what to do today
EkBoer is a sheep farm management app. Try it free for 30 days, no card needed. Open it, see the jobs that are due today and which animals they are for, do them, and tap Done. It works on your phone or computer, even when there is no signal.
What a sheep farmer gets
- A Today list. Every day the app shows the vaccines, treatments and jobs that are due, grouped by task, with the animals listed under each. Overdue jobs are marked in red.
- Reminders from your own rules. A rule says what is due and when, for example “give this vaccine every year on 1 August, and again four weeks later”. You can see, change, switch off and add rules yourself.
- Simple animal records. Add an animal with an ID and the date you bought it or its birth date. Add many at once, or import a list from Excel.
- Breeding and lambing records. Record when rams go in, scan results, lambings, weights and sales, and see lambing and weaning percentages.
- Your records stay with you. Everything is saved to your account and copied to your phone, so it works without signal and the same on every device.
Who it is for
It was built for a Dorper flock in South Africa, and it suits anyone who keeps sheep: a few ewes or a few thousand, commercial or stud, a lambing season or the ram running with the ewes all year. The reminders are only as good as the rules you set, so the app asks you to check products, doses and withdrawal periods with your vet.
How it works in four steps
- Start your free 30-day trial. No card is needed.
- Add your animals once: an ID plus the date bought or born. Or import your list from a spreadsheet.
- Check the rules. The standard programme is the developer’s own flock programme and is an example to start from, not advice for your farm. Change anything.
- Open Today every day and tap Done when a job is done.
What it does not do
EkBoer does not give veterinary advice or dosing advice. It follows the rules you set. It does not send anything to a breed society or to Logix. The sale document it prints is your own record, not the official police Stock Removal Certificate.
Questions farmers ask
How much does EkBoer cost?
You get a 30-day free trial and you do not need a card. After the trial it is R99 per month, with unlimited use. You create an account so your records are saved safely and are the same on your phone and computer.
Does it work without internet or signal?
Yes. It is installed like an app and keeps your data on your device, then syncs to your account when you are online again.
Is it only for Dorper sheep?
No. The standard programme was written for a Dorper flock, but every rule can be changed, switched off or replaced, so it works for any sheep breed.
