EkBoer started as the planner one Dorper farmer near Carletonville used for his own flock, and became an app for every sheep farmer.

The standard programme is an example

The programme that comes with the app is the developer’s own programme for his Dorper flock on the Highveld. It shows how rules fit together, from vaccines and deworming to lambing and weaning. It is not advice for your farm. Change, switch off or replace any part of it.

Settings you can change to suit your flock

Lambing start date, gestation days, how long the ram stays in, and weaning age (the standard is 100 days).
Whether lambs of unvaccinated mothers start their vaccines earlier.
Ram stays in all year, if you do not run a breeding season.

From commercial flock to stud

Commercial farmers use the daily list, lambing percentages and the list of ewes with no lamb. Stud breeders add pedigree, registration numbers, 100-day weights, sire and dam results and a birth list. Both use the same simple Today screen.

Questions farmers ask

Is the Dorper programme advice?

No. It is an example from the developer’s own flock. Check products, doses and timing with your vet and the product label.

Can I use it for White Dorpers, Dormers or Merinos?

Yes. Breed is a free text field and every rule can be changed, so it suits any sheep breed.
